Lesson 1: Raising Your Profile

In the ‘old’ days, your parents’ job applications were mostly judged based on paper CVs/Resumés sent through the mail. Today, to land a big job or a place on a graduate programme or at a top university, you need to have a personal brand (also known as ‘profile’) as well as have a very good CV.

Raising your profile is  all about making yourself known in the professional world so that opportunities come knocking at your door. It means boosting your visibility, having a professional online presence, and learning how to start making meaningful connections through networking to pave the way for a bright future!

This lesson is about personal brand essentials:

Lesson 2: Applying for Jobs

Raising your profile can attract recruiters, but it probably won’t secure a job; you still need to apply. Think of it this way:

Your CV/Resumé is your entry ticket, highlighting all your skills and experiences.

Your Cover Letter is an opportunity to make a personal connection, and explain why you should be interviewed.

And finally, the Interview is where you can bring your profile to life.

What we will cover in this lesson:
(a) The CV/Resumé
(b) The Cover Letter
(c) The Interview

Lesson 3: Advancing Your Career

From your very first job or internship or even work experience week your career journey will be one of growth, learning, twists and turns, survival, sometimes struggle, possibly changes in direction, searches for meaning, some setbacks and some successes.

Your first 100 days in a new job lay the groundwork for your future success. Then as you progress, you’ll start to get a sense of direction and set a few milestones and maybe a career plan of what you want to achieve.

And for those who set their sights on it – it can also take you all the way to a top leadership role – provided you do the legwork of gaining the experience and skills top companies want.

Whichever route you choose, it’s your unique journey, with some universal guidelines for every step of the way.

In this lesson we will focus on :
